Prestatyn school receives new Chromebook laptop from Rhuddlan estate agent

LL Estates is supporting schools and providing new laptops through the “Computer for Schools” campaign.

Headteacher Helen Vernon said: "This was a lovely surprise for the school.

“We are so grateful for all the support we receive from the local business community, and would like to thank LL Estates for the generous donation."

For every house they sell they make a donation to the cause, LL Estates is keen to give back and say thank you through supporting schools in the region.

Each month, they will pick a school to win a laptop.

Withington Primary Receive Laptop Prize

Community engagement Officer Jonathan Nash and 1 ^st team manager Josh Gowing visited Withington Primary to present the school with the laptop that was won in a social media competition. Before the children were presented with the laptop, they had a Q&A with the first team manager around his experiences as a player and a manager.

The Laptop had kindly been donated by Stephen Brown Consultancy, who have previously teamed up with Hereford FC Community to donated 20 tablets to give to local schools. Click here for more about the Tablets donated by Stephen Brown.

Josh Gowling added “its great getting out into the community of Hereford and speaking to the next generation of fans, volunteers and players of the future. The pupils asked some great questions around my experiences as a player and as a new manager and made me think about the effects the club has on the local community.”

Emotion runs high as Kerfuffle’s Community Champion award is presented to Stephen Brown

Among the many awards given out at the ESTAS last Friday evening, one in particular brought the entire crowd to their feet as Kerfuffle’s founder Simon Whale presented property industry trainer and mentor, Stephen Brown, with the Kerfuffle Community Champion award.

In his presentation speech Simon Whale said, “What we have seen in the last year, is the very best of our industry. In the face of adversity and the tragic loss of his wife Sam to cancer, Stephen did not let it stop him as he went full force to raise money together with agents and suppliers, to deliver computer devices to children who were homeschooling during the Pandemic; allowing them to be connected their friends and education at this vital time.”

In an emotional moment, as the entire room of over 1,100 people rose to its feet to give Stephen Brown a huge standing ovation, Simon went on to tell the crowd that: “This is what it is all about. People like him and people like you, can make a difference.”

Stephen Brown’s Computer’s for Schools campaign has successfully raised over £80,000 through donations from agents and suppliers. Stephen says that he hopes to see the total raised hit £200,000 as, “there are still so many people to reach and help. We are allowing agents who are involved in this campaign to choose local schools and organisations in their own community to benefit from the devices that are being funded by their donations.”

Simon Whale says “It’s sometimes easy to assume for our own privileged middle class viewpoint that every child has an iPad and has been able to seamlessly participate in online learning and activities with the rest of their peer group.

“This sadly is far from the case and this pandemic highlighted that there were plenty of schools and families who, through no fault of their own, found themselves woefully ill equipped and unprepared for homeschooling or staying connected to communal activities.

“That’s why we are backing Stephen and his campaign, making sure that this fantastic work continues to help the people that need it most.”

Agents Do charity - A tribute to Stephen Brown

Hello and welcome to a very special edition of Agents Do Charity - a tribute to someone who has arguably done more for charitable work than anyone else in our industry.

Stephen Brown’s Computers for Schools campaign has raised over £80,000 through donations from agents and suppliers, and Stephen now wants to take his campaign on to bigger and even better things.

He reveals his new target in a video interview with Angels Media chief executive Nat Daniels, now available exclusively for Estate Agent Today readers.

For the (perhaps very few) in the industry who do not know Stephen, he is a former director at the award-winning London agency Greene & Co., and has in recent years been coaching estate and letting agents on how they can improve their bottom line.

This short video interview gives a little more on his background and how a recent personal tragedy has done nothing to dim his campaigning for laptops for schools.

Cardigan Bay Properties - Computers for Schools

Today we got to do something quite amazing...

Cardigan Bay Properties are a brand new estate agents covering the Cardigan Bay and surrounding areas of West Wales. We launched our business on the 1st of February 2021, in the midst of this nightmare that is a global pandemic! The story of our launch was featured in many online publications, one of which was the estate agent online trade magazine Property Industry Eye , last week.

Never in a million years did we think that it would lead to this…

After the article was published, Mr Stephen J Brown of SJBConsultancy , got in contact with Tania. Stephen kindly congratulated us on our launch, wishing us all the very best of success, and then asked Tania if he could buy a laptop for us to donate to a school of our choice!

Slightly taken aback Tania asked for some more details and Stephen pointed her in the direction of Agents Together , an initiative he is one of the founding members of, which was set up during the pandemic. From there onto Agents Giving , which is a charity that Stephen works very closely with to help promote his Computers for Schools campaign . A campaign he launched together with another industry champion, Jerry Lyons at Estate Agent Content .

Once Tania had done her research she went back to Stephen and accepted his kind offer. The school she chose to receive this wonderful gift is the school her youngest daughter, Sophie, attends called Canolfan y Don , in Aberporth, West Wales. Canolfan y Don is a specialist school which caters to pupils up to the age of 11 years with a range of educational needs, including profound and multiple disabilities, severe learning difficulties and autism.

When Stephen heard about this school he then announced he would buy five tablets for them as well as the laptop. We were speechless!

Tania informed the school, who were overjoyed to learn of Stephen’s incredible generosity. But it did not stop there!

The following day I decided that I wanted to phone Stephen to thank him personally for his amazing generosity. I failed to get through, so sent him an email instead saying I would try again to phone him, as I wanted to thank him. He called back later that day but was unable to talk long due to a personal situation. The next morning I received an email from Stephen apologising for not having the time to speak to me properly the day before, and asking if he could buy a further 10 tablets for Canolfan Y Don school. Now we really were beyond speechless!

I messaged him back, after speaking with Tania about this, and said that if he was to do that it would mean that just over half of the children in the school would have access to a tablet, which would be incredible.

Stephen then phoned me, and asked how many children were in this school, to which I replied, 20. He then announced he would buy each one of them a tablet. This was too much and I protested, saying that was far too generous.

He then asked me how much would it mean to the children there. To which I answered that, in Sophie’s case, it would be life changing as she is eight years old and sadly canno t speak yet, but she can use a tablet. His response was to once again insist that all the children would be receiving a tablet! All I could say was thank you, over and over again, to his exceptional generosity.

The tablets and laptop arrived at my house over the weekend and today, Wednesday 24th February, on a very wet and miserable morning, Tania and I hand-delivered these gifts (obviously sticking strictly to Covid-19 social distancing rules) to the teachers of Canolfan y Don school, who were overwhelmed, overjoyed and slightly speechless! They know how much this is going to mean to the children and teachers of the school.

We met with Mrs. Christine Evans who is the Manager of Canolfan y Don, Mr. Eirwyn Griffiths who is the Head Teacher of Ysgol Aberporth Primary School, and Miss Emily Welch who is one of the class teachers at Canolfan y Don.

When we asked Mrs Evans what this will mean to them and the school, she said that now they are able to allow each and every child to have access to a tablet, which is an amazing thing to be in a position to offer, and will benefit each and every one of them immensely and help promote their independence. They cannot thank Mr Stephen Brown and Agents Giving enough for the donation and they have now become everyday heroes for the school.

Stephen did not know us before all this, except from reading our story and as a LinkedIn contact. He lives near London and is on a mission to make life easier for children to learn, by raising money to enable every estate agent across the UK to have a laptop or tablet donated to a school of their choosing. He set off to raise £50,000, having surpassed that figure, he is now on a mission to raise £200,000, and after talking with this remarkable human being, I think he will do it!

Bulls Team Up with Stephen Brown Consultancy to Provide Tablets for Schools

Hereford FC Community have joined together with Stephen Brown Consultancy to donate 20 tablets to local schools. The tablets will help support children’s learning during lockdown and beyond.

Stephen Brown became a big Hereford fan thanks to his wife, who started bringing him along to Edgar Street “we had some amazing experiences coming to Edgar Street and watching the team. We also had amazing days away watching the Bulls” said Stephen.

Sadly, Stephen’s wife passed away earlier this year, but his relationship with The Bulls continues. During the lockdown Stephen started to raise funds through his Stephen Brown Consultancy business, with the intention of providing children with laptops and tablets to help support their learning at school and at home. His fundraising so far has exceeded £62,000 and has seen many thousands of children benefit from electronic devices. You can donate to the appeal here .

Working alongside Stephen, Hereford FC Community identified some schools within the Herefordshire area that were most in need of support. The schools have been given five tablets each to help bridge the gap for learning support. The tablets will help groups of children who may need extra support or don’t already have access to devices to support home learning.

Bulls boss Josh Gowling, Assistant Manager Steve Burr, and player Toby Raison have all been on hand to help Hereford FC Community Engagement Manager, John Nash, deliver the tablets.

One of the schools to benefit first was Brookfield Primary School with the children receiving a surprise visit from Josh Gowling and Steve Burr.

The pupils got to ask lots of questions to Josh and Steve about their experiences in football, they also signed shirts and at the end had a socially distanced penalty shootout.

Brookfield Primary school Headteacher Jill Hurst said “The kind donation (made by Stephen and his family) of 5 tablets which the children can use in school but also borrow to use at home has been incredible and will most definitely make a difference for our pupils. She also added “it was great to see the pleasure the boys got from the visit by the team manager and assistant manager the other day and their excitement over the tablets.”

The second school to benefit was Riverside Primary School based in South Wye, Bulls boss Josh Gowling and player Toby Raisin took part in a Q&A session with the pupils before handing out the tablets. They also signed a ball for the school to keep.

Riverside Primary Sports Co-ordi nator, Colin Preece said: “Experiences like this for our students is amazing, we are so thankful for Josh and Toby taking the time to come in and really connect with our children. We would like to thank Stephen and his family for the kind donation and Hereford FC for making this happen.”

Hereford FC Manager Josh Gowling said: “I would like to thank Stephen for the amazing work he has been doing to raise money for children so that they have the opportunity to continue their learning during these difficult times. The Community of Hereford is so important to the success of this football club and it has been great to go into the schools and chat with the children. We want to show we are more than just about football in the community.”
